This is the second such list to exist in these forums. Here's the Epic First List if you're a GameLayers, Inc. history major. You all posted 422 times, and a lot of the posts were paragraphs of well thought-out game enhancements. :) Here is a brief summary of suggestions that have been made before. I'm not promising that we'll get around to these in the short-term, but if you came to this list to suggest any of the below rest assured that we know about these ideas: 1. More information about the game, in all its aspects. Lists of who took your portals, crates, DP cards and where both on the website and through the toolbar.
Okay! Thank you so much for playing The Nethernet. I look forward very much to hearing your suggestions via this forum, email, and PMail. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

yay another tread... great! i hope to be the first... heres something that bothers me, i dont know if its lag but theres sometimes that the tubes cloged... whatever, but sometimes i want to close/dismis a portal, mision, x-popup... then it appears to be like loading to close... and it never closes!!! i hate that well, for the "gameplay" i want to suggest to invent a new mode. Well, pmog its for passively game right? actually by creating items and make more interaction it became less passively... so for not sacrifice that name, why dont you create like a whole new game... but that wouldnt be cool, so instead of that... a like subgame inherted in the playground called internet. With subgame i mean, rules and items that can be included in your game or not. Its like having a second login for the nethernet, one its for the common and passively... and other to join into an specific set of more complex rules... while being in the first you cant see or use the items/rules of the second... im i explaining?... its like if you in the real world would like to start participating in aprils fool ... now, like always... i have to post items, so here its two Pathmaker - Board
Seers- Rowlete Ticket
Vigilante- Scope (Created)
Bedouin- Gauntlet (Equip, Created)
Destroyer- Destructor (Create)
Benefactor- Smile (Skill)

Gift of Giving - Benefactors High level benefactors have the ability to leave more in crates. Instead of them being locked into the 1000 dp per crate, they would have the ability to leave more. This ability would use pings, but would allow a benefactor the ability to crate more than just the average player. This would also allow them to leave more than just the normal 10 tools. Frankly, if they are level 10+ they know how to drop a crate or two. Why should they be locked into the same skill usage as every other player who drops a crate? Plus make it a heck of a lot easier to dish out prizes. *WINK* Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

I, for one, would like to have a better way to counteract watchdogs. When you're laying down mines and you have fifteen watchdogs in your way, it's rather annoying to have to go through all that DP just to place one down. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Scavenge - Pathmakers The ability to randomly find tools for high level pathmakers. While searching the internet, Pathmakers might stumble upon (see what I did there?) random tools scattered around the nethernet. If they visit pages that already have tools placed upon them (watchdogs, crates, mines, lightposts) they might pick up the tool and place them in their inventory. This would not deactivate the current tools located on the page, but it would be a perk for the pathmakers who are out there, making the paths for us to follow. It makes sense in keeping with their orderly ways, they would pick up stray tools on pages already visited and plop them into their inventory. This ability would cost pings, and could actively be toggled on or off. This would be a -high- level pathmaker ability as they would have earned it. This would avoid someone dabbling in the pathmaker affiliation to be able to do this, and use the tool for chaos. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Just thinking... Implementing the status effects into The Nethernet seems like the fun idea. These effects will be worn out after several minutes or surfing some specific amount of url. For example: 1. Amnesia: If you're hit with amnesia, you will not see any event overlays for a short amount of time. 2. Zapped: This's like being poisoned, if you're zapped, you'll lose 2 DP for each top level domain you visited. It'll be gone after a while. 3. Paralysis: When you're paralyzed, you cannot use any tools. 4. Silence: You'll not be able to post on the forum or send PM. Effective against spammers, lol. 5. Socialistic: This one is good, you'll get 50% more pings when interacting with the other players. Something like this... Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

This is more of a general idea than a well thought out one, but I almost feel like there should be a special bonus and/or disadvantage for a player depending on what class they pick. As it stands now, when a player picks a primary association, it simply serves as more of a label than necessarily a "class". Theoretically a player can level up every class and become a super player, able to flexibly play all classes. However, if there were a particular set of attributes set to each class...like say, maybe 'lantes were the only ones that can access the ping upgrades for their associated tools, or had a special ability for picking 'lante as their class (discounted nicks/dogs?) then there would be a special reason for picking one class for one's primary association. Of course, this would apply to other classes as well, I'm just using 'lantes as an example before anyone says I'm saying that we should become some sort of super class. ;) Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

I'd like to see something for the Bedouin like "bodyguard" - allow a bedouin to pick a player and take X number of hits on that player's behalf. So if some poor player is getting bombarded, they can ask for a bedouin to help them out for a bit. I could see it working mechanically a bit like nicks, though there might be an issue about getting the consent of both parties. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

I'm going to second Karmakaze's post as I think the idea is fantastic. So just pretend I suggested it as well but wrote it ever so slightly differently. I would also like to see more passive abilities. Maybe ones that are only available if you have chosen a class as your main. This would mean that although everyone can do what they want in regards to levelling for different talents, there would still be a ability that separated you from everyone else. I think calixjumi's and starryice's suggestions would be good for the respective order classes (bedouin already have vengeance so I haven't included one ). As for Chaos: Destroyer: Working Knowledge - The ability to not trip up ones own mines. Mines from other players are not affected. Seer: Source code - Allows the seer to see the basic address of any portal they come across. Vigilante: Quick Draw When 'naded it gives a low percentage chance to stop it at the expense of a St. Nick Not suggesting they're perfect... but you get the idea. :) Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Something old, but good, Auto-armor! I like my armor, and I want it on all the time. It could pop up a overlay (same style as finding a crate, portal, mission, or hitting or blocking a grenade or mine) saying I'm out of armor with a shoppe button. Also, what about a Bedouin ability that would block St. Nicks from being attached? I am a Bedouin/destroyer, so I would love that! I would love to use all of this, plus my bit, but "The Tubes is clogged - try again later!" Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

I LOVE karmakaze's idea. Ghastly's class specific abilities are fun, too, although there might have to be a limit imposed on how often you could change your association. If you can switch back and forth at will to see where a portal goes or sneak through your own mine field, it would sort of defeat the purpose. Auto armor would be pretty awesome; I sometimes get caught out when the tubes get a little cloggy and I don't realize my armor's been busted until I've set off another mine or (more often) 'nade. I'd be okay with a higher ping cost, since I don't see myself needing to use it when I know I'm going to be going through armor. But I'm not sure it fits with the game logic. Armor that puts itself on is almost as out there than armor that shocks the person who laid the mine you've just tripped. I guess a parallel idea would be single click mass mine laying for destroyers; it sort of makes it too easy. Although I'm loving my mental image of the overlay for that one; dozens of mines trooping off together across the intertubes on their cute little mine legs. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Guys, we once had it so that you could only buy toolsfrom your top three associations and that your associations were based on your tool use in the past 72 hours. Needless to say, that no longer happens. I wouldn't mind it for top three associations, because I've picked Order and I stay away from Chaos, but it wasn't too great when it was around, so I'd rather not have it back. I also don't like the idea of Auto-Armor. Give the Destroyers a break. We have Armor, Dodge, Disarm, and Vengeance. It's already hard enough for then to hit us. Let's leave the chance of them hitting us out there (no matter how much I hate getting hit). It's only 10 DP after all. Some random ideas of my own:
2 This is less association based and more Order/Chaos based. If you're at or above level 10 in all three classes of one of the factions, you get the ability to make a tool that cleanses a webpage of all items of the opposite faction or one that doubles the amount of items of the same faction (not including your own). Would have to cost a lot though. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

The only thing I'd want from auto-armor is to counteract the bug where the toolbar does a much better job of noticing mines than of noticing that I've asked it to put on my next piece of armor. I think it would be more direct to work on clearing up the clogs that cause armor activation to fail than making a whole new tool, though. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Vigilante: Wild Nicks. An upgrade for a Nick that would allow a Nick to be placed on a web page, and the next player to come across the page would get that Nick attached to them. Seer: Loaded Portals. Like ever crates, but for portals. Load a portal up with either grenades or nicks, and it will attach one to a traveler going through the portal. Benefactor: Spinning DP Cards. This would be an upgrade. DP Cards spin, like in the animation, but the "Take" button would only be available when the DP Card is fully showing. So you would have to wait for a DP Card to loot it, instead of mindlessly grabbing it. Would cost 10 Pings. Pathmaker: Sticky Posts. This would be a 100 Ping upgrade for lightposts. They show up on a webpage, without being an actual mission. These could be rated down, just like portals. Basically, the pathmaker leaves commentary, a note, or something on a page. How about an economy? Like prices of tools in the shoppe will fluctuate (only by a few DP). This will encourage trading, and thus a sense of community. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Geb, to some extent that already happens--every other week or so it seems like something new goes on sale in the shoppe. A smart user would stock up, and then sell later when there's no discount on anything :P Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

Treading over the thread with trepidation. Can you put flags up on completed missions of /where the portals were/ so that I can back there later and look at them. Also, could you allow tagging of missions in my queue, so that I could note that 1) a mission via portal appeared during what other mission and so must be related somehow 2) that it somehow relates to (my own tag). Also, instead of cluttering up my email box, can we subscribe to forums and have the newly-added notices on our pmail acct. http://thenethernet.com/forums/g... or toggle an option to get it on irc via /msg A date for the portals would be helpful. http://thenethernet.com/forums/g... Also an /orderly/ way of seeing how many times we have to click on a portal (countdown from 50, right) before it goes away. (I portal-bombed™ Nieman and he eradicated it, must have been in a funny way!) How about a playing card effect, so that I can see all the portals spread out (in my figurative hand) on a webpage all at once? http://thenethernet.com/forums/g... Also, I think I used to see the contents of my 'crate' messages in pmail, but didn't today (5/28), so that would be helpful. I use crates like post-it notes, occasionally. Too much programming backround. How about nested crates. Crates containing crates - someone wanted to give away 1000 dp in one fell swoop. They need 10 crates of 100 dp inside of one crate. Doable? Sylverling gets mad at me for pingspam and wants me to edit my posts rather than post anew so, 5/19: Can we have the Latest Posts' (http://thenethernet.com/posts/la... links to jump to the page the latest post is on. 2) Can we optionally have nested posts, instead of chronological, so that, the SuperCia story's, for example, posts all go in one spot, collapsible, so people don't have to, for example, (as an option), see that every other post is for, "Are you questioning me?" (as it may appear this morning.)? Can we have the latest posts go on and on for days so that I can find where I left off? For that matter, I will now have to check, Forums doesn't list more than a few of my postings (which are too lengthy?, sylverling?) and it doesn't list what others have been reading so I can catch up. It would be useful to undo the mission taken, so I can redo the mission as written, without going to last page and clicking back and forth on the tabs. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |

I really like the notices tab of the pmail inbox. I was thinking that it might be cool that if somebody replies to an event e.g. when somebody says thank you for picking up a dp card that this pmail message branched off the notice in the notice tab. Replied about 1 year ago | Permalink |
